Over the last year I have been using the latest Hard Laser instrument developed for dentistry. The Opus 20 Laser (click here for more information) represents another advance in dental technology which I have to offer you at my surgery. I have always maintained a policy of keeping ahead in the use of the latest new technology in dental equipment, instruments, materials and new forms of treatment.

Briefly these new lasers are capable of preparing many types of fillings in tooth enamel, dentine and old white fillings as well as soft tissue surgery without actually having to touch the tissue as with conventional instruments.

The laser can in many cases be used without anaesthetics, however at this stage I am suggesting it is better to use a local anaesthetic for larger fillings.

How it works

Simply it works by the emission of laser light through a fibre optic handpiece removing surface tissue by a gentle disintegration of any water molecules in that material. One obvious shortcoming is we can not remove metal fillings. During the procedure the patient will hear a slight popping sound and have a water spray in their mouth. It takes about the same time as using the conventional drill but with no contact or air turbine whine.

Sonicare tooth brush.
Over the past year we have been seeing a tremendous improvement in patients gingival conditions when using the new Sonicare ultrasonic toothbrush. The brush generates an amazing 31000 gentle brush strokes per minute. Its combination of high speed and Ultrasonics removes plaque in the hard to reach places. We suggest this unit to patients who have complicated crown and bridgework done, and the results have encouraged me to recommend the Sonicare for all patients who are keen to keep their gums in great condition. The price has dropped now to a reasonable one.

Our Free check up offer

You might like to collect from Barbara when you next visit the surgery a Free Recall Voucher if you have introduced a new patient to City Centre Denial Surgery.

Most new patients come to us by word of mouth referrals from our regular patients, so we would like to express our thanks by making this offer.

Hampshire House Staff Satisfaction.

A Balanced, comfortable Dentition and a good smile are the most important factors my patients are looking for according to a recent survey.

I am pleased that my message is getting through that one 's general health and well-being is tied in with a good set of teeth and a balanced bite.

With the modern materials and techniques now available to me I can almost always rehabilitate the most broken down set of teeth and restore a patients dental HEALTH with natural looking restorations.

My staff and I are very pleased that we are able to carry out these procedures and to see what a great improvement we attain in the dental and general health of our patients.

Optional Dental Club Membership
We have had a Dental Scheme operating at Hampshire House for a couple of years aimed at addressing the high costs of good dental treatment.

Many of our patients have been accepted onto the scheme and are benefiting from the reduced costs of more elaborate treatment plans that may have become necessary following their initial treatment.

We offer the scheme to our regular and dentally stable patients . It is designed to encourage maintaining a healthy dentition.

All checkups, cleaning, x-rays and simple restorative work are included. If however the repair work requires a more complex treatment plan e.g.: a root filling, Crown, inlay, veneer, bridge or denture then the patient will enjoy a 25% education ion on the cut, ent sur~!erV cost of this more expensive work.

Recently Boots the Chemist has started to offer a Dental plan which is very similar to ours. We feel that this will make a lot more people aware that good dentistry is available outside the constraints of the NHS system.

Micro-Abrasives and Lasers in Dentistry

It's becoming true that in the 21st century the dental drill is slowly moving into history for simple restorations.

Instead of a drill in many situations I can use either our KCP abrasion instrument to spray away poor quality enamel and decay from a tooth and/or use our New Laser to finally clean out all traces of decay and bacteria prior to bonding in the new types of filling material we use at Hampshire House.

Benefits of these procedures include:

1.Precise conservative tooth preparation leaving more intact and sound tooth for new bonding methods.

2.Roughens & etches the enamel/dentine to help bond the filling.

3. Sterilises the prepared cavity.

4.Little noise, no whining drill.

5. Often no numbing injections.
